Message on the 5th Anniversary of the Easter Attacks

Today marks the 5th year of the horrific Easter Attacks which claimed the lives of innocent citizens of our country.

The ACJU and the Muslim community of Sri Lanka extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives and those who were injured in this tragedy which occurred in 21st of April 2019.

The ACJU urges the relevant authorities to expedite proceedings to identify the real perpetrators and masterminds of this attack against humanity and to take legal action against them, while meting out justice to all those who were effected.

Almighty Allah says in Chapter 4 Verse 135

"O you who believe, be upholders of justice - witnesses for Allah, even though against (the interest of) your selves or the parents, and the kinsmen. One may be rich or poor, Allah is better caretaker of both. So do not follow desires, lest you should swerve. If you twist or avoid (the evidence), then, Allah is all-aware of what you do."

We pray for the families of all those who lost their lives, for justice to be meted to those who have faced injustice and for the unity among the people of all communities.
