Clarification on the Joint Project Implemented with the Collaboration of the Embassy of China

An event was organized to distribute Hygiene kits under a joint project implemented by ACJU in collaboration with the Embassy of China, under the theme 'Fight against COVID-19', on the 10th of June 2020 at the ACJU Head office.

In this event the Hygiene Kits, contributed by the Chinese Embassy which consisted of items such as face masks, hand sanitizers and disinfectants were presented to the religious leaders of all faiths, staff members of hospitals and schools and general public.

Last year, on the 28th of July 2020, Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe- President of ACJU paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of China and submitted the completion report of said project to 'Chargé d' affaires Mr.Hu Wei, of the Chinese Embassy. It should be noted that the pictures taken during this visit to the Chinese Embassy is currently circulating on Social media.

During this period the ACJU Education Division initiated a special 'Development Project' with the collaboration of the Chinese Embassy for the O/L students of 11 Schools. Another event was organized on 02nd September 2020, to distribute School equipment to 135 students of around 18 Schools, at the auditorium of Al Hidaya Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 10, in which the Acting Ambassador, a delegation from the Chinese Embassy, School Principals and representatives of the ACJU also participated.

It is significant to note that in order to implement this project, the Embassy of China had sponsored Rs.2, 200,000 and the total cost of the project amounted to Rs.2, 303,287.50. The pictures taken during the event is posted below.

However, the public are kindly requested to refrain from spreading rumors regarding this.

Furthermore, it should be noted that the ACJU has always been cautious and responsible especially on financial related matters throughout history and we affirm that we shall continue to do so.
